Let's. Talk. Texture. I am a major fan of having three textures on my body at all times, and these white floral shorts from Regal Status are EVERYTHING. I see them dressed up with a blazer (as pictured, but you can totally wear a top under the blazer, obvs), dressed down with an oversized t-shirt, femmed up with a white blouse and strappy heels... the possiblities are endless. And you should know she has a pencil skirt in the same fabric. It's to die for.
Speaking of texture, I always need a little shine in my looks. As a fan of quilted and "homey" textures, leather and shine are a great way to keep an outfit feeling fashion forward. This leather tank by Afielda is a great surprise way to infuse your outfit with shine, since usually people think shoes or pants when they think of leather. It also feels a little bit like armor in the best way possible. It's tough out there, folks. Armor up.
As we all know, the best part of fall is layers. I'm currently obsessed with this macrame top from Yet Luxxe. In the summer it's the perfect accent to your bathing suit or over a mini skirt, but in the fall it's SUCH a cool pieces to put under a blazer, or let the peek out from beneath a sweatshirt, or wear it over a sweater dress. It is so incredibly versatile and interesting and perfect for the in-between season when we want to layer up but then remember it doesn't actually get cold until, like, October.
Lastly I want to talk about the mixing of "up" & "down" pieces. I think one of the best ways to create interest in a look is by combining pieces that feel "fancier" with pieces that feel more "everyday". And while I don't fully subscribe to the way it was sold to us in Y2K, I think there's still some truth to it. I loved pairing this jeweled open back top from ELU by Elon with some barrel leg denim. Sure, she's not wearing that to the grocery store, but for a friend's night out, a cool happy hour, a local fashion event, it's amazing. And of course, paired with a gorgeous trouser or silk maxi skirt (you can find a matching one from ELU, just so you know), you're the chicest one at the fundraising dinner or the symphony or wherever you go.
Happy fall, y'all.
xoxo,
