Alex Scarpello, the visionary behind RoninScar, crafts deeply personal collections that explore emotion and mental health, drawing inspiration from cultural attire and psychological films like Stalker and Shadow. A fashion student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, he was awarded the Featured Designer Golden Shears Award at Omaha Fashion Week’s Fall 2020 showcase. His innovative, ultramodern designs utilize techniques such as layering, gathering, texturing, and distressing—resulting in striking garments that are both futuristic and raw.
Scarpello's collections often explore narratives set within "The Zone," a conceptual space influenced by the Chernobyl disaster and Andrei Tarkovsky's film Stalker. The Zone (2020) examines personal relationships through the lens of Chernobyl's history, while They Have Awoken (2021) introduces inhabitants of The Zone, inspired by the Ukrainian Cossack people. These collections showcase Scarpello's dedication to storytelling through fashion, blending historical and cultural references with his unique artistic vision.
Through RoninScar, Scarpello continues to push the boundaries of fashion, creating garments that are not only visually captivating but also rich in narrative depth.
